Dr. Carrie Cameron has made history as the first African American woman to found a Theological University without government funding.
Guided by the Spirit of God, her vision led to the creation of Upper Room Theological University, Inc., in 2019 in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
With degree programs spanning from Associate to Doctorate levels, Dr. Cameron has dedicated her life to spreading the Word of Elohim while recognizing the contributions of volunteers through her innovative Honorary Doctorate Degree Program.
In this exclusive interview, Dr. Cameron shares her journey, the inspiration behind her work, and her passion for uplifting communities.
Q: Dr. Cameron, can you tell us what inspired you to start Upper Room Theological University?
Dr. Carrie Cameron: The inspiration for Upper Room Theological University came directly from the Holy Spirit. I’ve always been deeply connected to the Word of Elohim, and throughout my 35 years of study, I felt a growing need to create a place where others could learn, grow, and deepen their understanding of the Word. God placed this vision in my heart, and in 2019, it became a reality. The goal was to offer a space where people could not only study theology but also be recognized for their service and dedication to the community through our Honorary Doctorate Degree Program.
